However, he has struggled to make an impact out of possession, as was the case against Kilmarnock, with less than one tackle and interception combined per match, and that is where this potential new signing could take some of the pressure off him.

According to CaughtOffside, Celtic are keen on Liverpool’s Wataru Endo and are far from the only team interested in signing the central midfielder.

The report claims that the Hoops are one of a number of sides eyeing up the former Stuttgart dynamo, with AC Milan, Fulham, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Ipswich Town also said to be lining up a move for the Reds outcast.

It states that all of those clubs, including Celtic, have ‘shown’ an interest in the Japan international and could swoop for him when the January transfer window opens for business.

CaughtOffside adds that Endo is open to completing a move away from Anfield after the turn of the year because of his lack of minutes on the pitch under Arne Slot, with zero starts and five substitute appearances – totalling 25 minutes of action – in the Premier League this season.

The outlet claims that Liverpool could accept a fee of up to €18m (£15m) for the former Bundesliga battler, but does not outright state that Slot wants to cash in on the rarely-seen midfielder.

A fee of £15m for a player who turns 32 this season, in February, does not seem like a viable move for Celtic, when you consider that their club-record is the £11m that they paid for Arne Engels this summer.

However, the Hoops could possibly attempt to convince Liverpool to sanction a loan in the second half of the season, which could bolster Rodgers’ squad and provide Endo with a chance to shine and increase his value and number of suitors with strong performances.

The Japanese midfielder, if he can recapture his best form, could be a signing that would allow Engels to shine even brighter in the middle of the park.

Why Celtic should sign Endo

If the Hoops can secure a loan deal for the second half of the season, the Liverpool midfielder could provide a combative presence in the middle of the park to make up for Engels’ struggles in that department.

The Japanese gem has rarely got on the pitch this term but did play 29 times under Jurgen Klopp in the Premier League last season and averaged 2.4 tackles and interceptions per game, along with 2.9 ground duels won per game.

As you can see in the table above, the 31-year-old star provided quality on the ball, with nine goal contributions, but was also strong at winning the ball back for his side, cutting out opposition attacks with vital interventions.

His 2.9 tackles and interceptions per game are impressive when you consider that no Celtic midfielder has managed more than 2.6 per outing, and Paulo Bernardo (2.6) is the only midfielder with more than 1.7 per match.

Endo has the defensive quality to be a stopper in the middle of the park and that could free up Engles, as well as the likes of Reo Hatate, Bernardo, and Luke McCowan to push on and not exert as much energy defensively.

As you can see from the detailed table above, Kerkez is already operating at quite the impressive level, having produced metrics this season that run closer to Robertson in his present iteration than that of his Tigers days, when he was but a prospect himself.

So crunchingly accurate in the duel and equally as creditable with his pass completion, Kerkez has something special about him for sure. As per FBref, he actually ranks among the top 6% of Premier League full-backs this term for progressive carries (3.13) per 90, which bears testament to his youthful athleticism.

Though Kerkez is young and inexperienced at the highest level, given that he’s showcasing qualities that draw close – or surpass – Robertson’s under Slot this season, you can only surmise that he would stand a fantastic chance of cementing himself as a regular starter at Liverpool.

Under Andoni Iraola, Bournemouth have furthered their establishment as a top-flight team and have moved away from the confines of pragmatic football and stepped toward a stylish ball-playing system. Kerkez has been crucial in achieving this.

Now, a fresh report from Africa Foot claim that Everton are keeping a close eye on Brighton and Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey as they weigh up a potential swoop for the flying fullback.

Lamptey was described as a “unique” player by former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi, who added: “He is an important, important player for us. He can play full-back, winger.”

According to the near-final draft of the next ICC FTP, accessed by ESPNcricinfo, India will travel to Australia for five Tests in December and January 2024-25, and the return series will take place in India in early 2027. Both series are part of the next two World Test Championship cycles in 2023-25 and 2025-27 respectively.India are also scheduled to play two five-Test series against England – at home in early 2024 and away in 2025. As per the draft FTP, India are scheduled to play 38 Tests, four fewer than England (42) and three fewer than Australia (41). Only two other countries have more than 30 Tests on their calendar: Bangladesh (34) and New Zealand (32).According to the norm, the series that comprise the WTC cycles were agreed upon by the participating countries themselves. While the series (see graphics) for both WTC cycles have been locked, there is still room for adjustment in the overall number of matches and dates. As a result, the ICC, which plays a facilitating role to help countries finalise the FTP, has identified several series in the draft FTP that need to be confirmed potentially by the end of the ICC annual conference on July 25 and 26 in Birmingham, England.Other Test series – short and sweetApart from the series against Australia and England, India play more than two Tests in a bilateral contest only once: a three-Test series at home against New Zealand in October-November 2024. The rest of India’s WTC series are limited to two Tests. England and Australia, on the other hand, are scheduled to play several three-Test series over the next four years.In their home summer, Australia play three-Test series against Pakistan in December 2023 and South Africa in September-October 2026, followed by New Zealand between December and January 2027. Australia also play three Tests in the West Indies in June-July 2025.England play six series comprising three Tests – three at home and three away. The home series are against West Indies (June-July 2024), New Zealand (June 2026) and Pakistan (August-September 2026). Return of the ODI tri-seriesThe presence of the ODI Super League, a qualification pathway for the World Cup in the ICC’s current FTP, discouraged boards from scheduling other bilateral ODI series and tri-series. But with the Super League being removed from May 2023, there is more space to schedule bilateral ODI series, and the tri-series is set for a comeback.Pakistan are likely to host New Zealand and South Africa in a tri-series in February 2025, ahead of the Champions Trophy in the same country. A few months later, in June-July, Zimbabwe are scheduled to host New Zealand and South Africa for another tri-series. And in October-November 2026, Pakistan are hosting a tri-series involving Sri Lanka and a third country that is yet to be confirmed.Five-T20I series on the riseThe commercial benefit of playing more T20Is has resulted in a massive spike in five-match T20I series proposed in the next FTP cycle. There are 15 series comprising five T20Is that have been slotted – nine of them involve India – but some are yet to be confirmed.

حسم التعادل السلبي مواجهة منتخب مصر أمام نظيره الزامبي، في اللقاء الذي جمع بينهما مساء اليوم السبت، ضمن منافسات الجولة الثالثة من دور المجموعات لبطولة كأس أمم إفريقيا للشباب تحت 20 عامًا، والمقامة حاليًا في مصر.

ودخل منتخب مصر المباراة بحثًا عن انتصار يحسم تأهله، إلا أن التعادل جعله يكتفي برفع رصيده إلى 4 نقاط، من فوز في الجولة الأولى على جنوب إفريقيا بهدف دون رد، وخسارة قاسية في الجولة الثانية أمام سيراليون بنتيجة 4-1، قبل تعادل اليوم أمام زامبيا.

ورغم تحسن الأداء مقارنة بالمباراة السابقة، فإن التعادل أبقى موقف “الفراعنة الصغار” معقدًا في المجموعة، حيث يحتلون المركز الثاني مؤقتًا، في انتظار نتائج باقي الفرق لحسم فرص التأهل.

وشهدت الجولة الثالثة من المجموعة الأولى افتتاحها بمواجهة سيراليون وتنزانيا، والتي انتهت بفوز سيراليون بهدف دون رد، لتواصل تصدر المجموعة برصيد 7 نقاط من فوزين وتعادل.
