O profissional de 48 anos voltou ao comando do Tricolor das Laranjeiras em maio e, desde então, conseguiu remodelar uma equipe desacreditada à postulante a títulos, assim como fez no Audax em 2016.

Naquele ano, Diniz classificou o time de Osasco na primeira colocação do Grupo C do Paulistão. Após despachar o São Paulo, o Audax se deparou com o Corinthians na semifinal do estadual.

A equipe treinada por Tite havia feito a melhor campanha do Campeonato Paulista, com 35 pontos em 15 jogos, mas não foi párea para o Audax, que eliminou o Timão nos pênaltis, em plena Neo Química Arena, após empate no tempo normal por 2 a 2. Fagner e Rodriguinho não converteram suas cobranças.

Ao todo são 11 confrontos entre o clube alvinegro e Diniz, com três vitórias para o Timão, quatro empates e quatro triunfos para o técnico de 48 anos.

O primeiro embate foi em março de 2010, quando o Paulista de Jundiaí superou o Corinthians por 1 a 0. O último jogo aconteceu há pouco mais de um mês. No Maracanã, Vítor Pereira decidiu poupar seus titulares visando a partida contra o Boca Juniors, na Libertadores, e o clube alvinegro acabou sendo goleado por 4 a 0 diante do Fluminense.

O Time do Povo quase enfrentou Diniz nas quartas de final da Copa Sul-Americana de 2019, já que o treinador dirigia o Fluminense e havia classificado a equipe carioca para encarar o Corinthians, mas o treinador não resistiu aos maus resultados do Tricolor das Laranjeiras no Brasileirão e foi demitidotrês dias antes do primeiro duelo eliminatório.

Naquela ocasião, o time paulista prevaleceu e avançou de fase após dois empates, mas caiu para o Independiente del Valle-EQU na semifinal da competição continental.

Vale ressaltar que durante sua carreira como jogador, Diniz teve uma passagem pelo clube do Parque São Jorge, onde mesmo não se firmando como titular, faturou o título paulista de 1997. Ele se transferiu para o Paraná Clube no ano seguinte.

Pakistan cricket is bracing itself for a wholesale review of its team structures, which could result in changes to the captaincy, after the end of a disappointing home season. Senior officials in the board’s new management set-up have indicated their willingness to signal to players and coaches that they will “challenge the status quo if necessary.” It has not been ruled out that such a challenge could split the Pakistan captaincy across formats, stripping Babar Azam of some of the influence he currently commands as an all-format captain.The current PCB administration, itself an interim arrangement, has appointed an interim selection committee, and Saqlain Mushtaq, the head coach of the national men’s side, is likely to leave after his contract ends in February. The board plans to carry out its review and make changes after the PSL ends in March. The Najam Sethi-led management took over from Ramiz Raja just three weeks ago and has been actively reviewing Pakistan’s recent performances and structures within the team since. But the real stirring seems to be happening with the side itself. Sethi made Shan Masood vice-captain of the ODI side in the absence of Babar’s regular deputy Shadab Khan, who is out with a finger injury. It was a surprising recall for Masood, given that he last played an ODI in 2019 and hadn’t really been part of the conversation since. Haris Sohail was also recalled out of the blue, having not been in the side for a while, on the basis that he had been treated unfairly by previous selectors.But Masood’s sudden elevation as vice-captain has been read by some as a challenge to both him and Babar’s captaincy, and is believed to have caused unrest and resentment among the core of the national side, most of whom are loyal to Babar. On the eve of the the ODI series against New Zealand, Babar had sought to play down the vice-captaincy, saying the appointment doesn’t mean Masood would automatically make the XI, and sure enough, Masood hasn’t played the first two games. Sethi has taken a personal interest in forming a new coaching set-up as well, and was planning to bring back former head coach Mickey Arthur. But Arthur’s long-term contract with Derbyshire meant he couldn’t take up a full-time head coach role with Pakistan and though both parties tried to forge a part-time consultancy role for him, the PCB said that proved “difficult to materialize for various reasons on both sides.”Sethi, however, is keen on having Arthur on side, advising him on cricket affairs. The suggestion to elevate Masood is understood to have come from an informal discussion between Sethi and Arthur, for example. Masood had a stint last summer with Derbyshire, under Arthur. No doubt, his most spectacular strike in that time was a phenomenal overhead kick against Everton in the 2023/24 campaign, winner of the 2024 Puskas award.

The Argentina international had made a fast start to the new season, too. He has scored eight goals and has four assists in 23 appearances, with three of those strikes coming in the Premier League. However, along with Rashford, he was also dropped from the squad for the 195th Manchester Derby last weekend, which was explained by new manager Ruben Amorim.

On the back of that form, and perhaps the fact Amorim axed him from the squad last weekend, La Liga giants Atletico Madrid are believed to be showing an interest in signing the winger. Spanish reports say Diego Simone’s side are ‘targeting’ the youngster over the winter. It could be an expensive deal, with Garnacho valued at £95m by CIES Football Observatory.

A potential move away for their number 17 might be a concern for United, who surely would not want to lose one of their stars, in a transfer which could see history repeat itself.

One season later, at the end of the 2008/09 campaign, the legendary number seven left Old Trafford to join Real Madrid for a then-world record £80m fee. He merely added to his already great legacy at the Santiago Bernabeu, scoring 450 goals in 438 games for the club.

The similarities between Ronaldo’s move and a potential sale of Garnacho are perhaps too close to comfort for some United fans. A big club from Madrid comes calling, looking to pay a staggering amount for a premium winger in what could be a club-record sale.

The former Red Devils’ number seven even assisted his first goal for the club against Real Sociedad in the Europa League back in 2022, with a wonderfully weighted ball which Garnacho smashed home.

However, the pair have even been compared by a former teammate of Ronaldo, Paul Scholes. Back in October 2022, the legendary former United midfielder explained the Argentine “reminded me of a young Cristiano”, citing “his skill and taking the ball down with confidence” as reasons why.

The similarities are almost too much of a coincidence for Red Devils fans to ignore. There may well be a worry that one of their most exciting talents in years may also make the move to Madrid, almost identically following the footsteps of the man who he once called his “idol”.

Two Hobart hailstorms and firm resistance from Victoria’s top order have combined to deny Tasmania back-to-back Sheffield Shield wins.After resuming at 44 for 1 on the final day and still needing another 140 to make Tasmania bat again, Victoria made clear their plan to bat through the day at Blundstone Arena.But they needed to face just 45.5 overs, as heavy rain and hail stopped play early in the middle session with Victoria 113 for 1.The rain eventually subsided as an early tea was called, but 12 minutes after the players returned more heavy hail hit with Victoria 122 for 1. The teams agreed to a draw.Opener Travis Dean offered the most resistance for Victoria, soaking up 200 balls for his 70 not out.His innings included a 50-over stand that netted 80 runs with Mitchell Perry, who was unbeaten on 31 from 159 balls.Victoria were in the box seat after the opening two days thanks to an unbeaten century from debutant Ashley Chandrasinghe that allowed them to declare at 7-351.But Jordan Silk’s quickfire 154 from 161 balls helped Tasmania take a mammoth 184-run first-innings lead.That gave the Tigers a shot at a second straight win after toppling South Australia a fortnight ago, but any hopes of a win were quickly extinguished on Tuesday.The result marks Victoria’s third straight draw to start the season after they were denied by Western Australia and South Australia in the opening rounds.

ويشارك تشيلسي في كأس العالم للأندية، حيث يتواجد في مجموعة تضم كل من الترجي التونسي، ليون وفلامينجو.

وعبر حسابه الشخصي، أعلن جادون سانشو انتهاء تجربته مع تشيلسي ومن ثم عودته مرة أخرى إلى مانشستر يونايتد، وسط غموض حول مستقبله مع الشياطين الحمر.

وقضى سانشو الموسم الماضي على سبيل الإعارة في صفوف تشيلسي، ولكن النادي اللندني قرر عدم شرائه بشكل دائم، ليعود إلى مانشستر يونايتد، قبل كأس العالم للأندية.

وكتب سانشو: “ممتن لهذه التجربة، أتقدم بخالص الحب لجميع أعضاء تشيلسي الذين جعلوني أشعر وكأنني في بيتي، زملائي في الفريق، والجهاز الفني، والجماهير”.
